Design functions and applications
RP2040 development board design for MicroPython, CircuitPython, GPIO experiments and embedded prototyping.
Main chips and their roles
| Chip | Role in the design |
|---|---|
| RP2040 | Dual-core Arm Cortex-M0+ microcontroller with programmable I/O (PIO); the main controller in the upstream design. |
Key design functions
- Compact RP2040 development-board layout with accessible GPIO and SWD connections.
- The upstream documentation provides MicroPython and CircuitPython getting-started resources.
- BOOTSEL access supports firmware-loading workflows; software must match the board configuration.
Typical applications
- Learning Python on microcontrollers.
- Sensor acquisition, LED control and GPIO experiments.
- Prototyping custom USB and PIO peripherals with suitable firmware.
Application examples require suitable firmware and external hardware. Functions and chips describe the assembled design; the PCB-only option contains no components. Actual PCBA population and any programming or testing requirements should be confirmed for the order.
22008 RP2040 Dev Board Rev 4 — Choose PCB or PCBA
Based on the open-source 22008-RP2040-Dev-Board project from Breadstick Innovations, designed by Michael Rangen. The supplied PCB renders are marked Rev:4. Select your required build option before adding to cart.
| Option | Price per piece | Shipping weight per unit | Supplied condition | Production lead time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PCB Only | USD $3.90 | 50 g | 1 bare PCB; no electronic components | 2-3 days |
| PCBA | USD $8.50 | 60 g | 1 assembled circuit board | 5-10 days after payment confirmation |
The PCBA production lead time excludes shipping transit time. PCBA is produced to order, not dispatched immediately from stock.
What you receive
- PCB Only: one unpopulated printed circuit board. RP2040, flash, connectors and all other components are excluded.
- PCBA: one populated and soldered board based on this project. Cables and enclosure are not included. Contact DIYIPCB before ordering if you need particular header fitting, firmware programming or a specific test procedure.
Both gallery images are front/back bare PCB renders for layout reference. They are not photos of the assembled PCBA.
