Redox Wireless rev2.0WHS Hot-Swap Keyboard PCB Kit

Build a 70-key ergonomic split mechanical keyboard with this three-board bare PCB kit, based on the open hardware design by Mattia Dal Ben. Manufactured by DIYIPCB.

Package contents — US$5.00 per kit

  • 2 unpopulated rev2.0WHS keyboard transmitter PCBs, for the left and right halves.
  • 1 unpopulated Redox Wireless receiver PCB.

PCB only. Hot-swap sockets, switches, keycaps, wireless modules, Pro Micro controller, diodes, battery holders, batteries, headers, cables, case and switch plates are not included. The upstream photograph shows the keyboard PCB pair; the receiver PCB is also included in the kit.

Design functions and applications

  • 70-key split layout for custom mechanical keyboards, programmable desktop input and keyboard DIY projects.
  • Cherry MX compatible switch layout with support for Kailh CPG151101S11 hot-swap sockets. Sockets must first be soldered to the PCB before switches can be exchanged without soldering.
  • Wireless keyboard halves communicate with a dedicated receiver connected to the computer over USB. This configuration is not a direct Bluetooth-pairing keyboard.
  • QMK firmware on the receiver controller provides configurable keyboard mappings, together with the upstream Redox-W radio firmware.
  • Each keyboard half is designed for a CR2032 battery; batteries are not supplied.

These capabilities require the appropriate components, assembly and firmware. Bare PCBs are not functional keyboards on their own.

Main components in the reference design

  • 3 YJ-14015 / Core51822B-compatible nRF51822 radio modules: one per keyboard half and one on the receiver.
  • 1 Arduino Pro Micro compatible controller on the USB receiver.
  • 70 Kailh CPG151101S11 hot-swap sockets and 70 1N4148 / 1N4148W switch-matrix diodes.
  • Receiver 1117-series 3.3 V regulator, LEDs and resistors; keyboard battery holders and power switches.

All components listed above are assembly requirements and are excluded from the bare PCB kit.

Revision and case compatibility

This kit uses the rev2.0WHS transmitter design and its shared wireless receiver design. Both PCB designs use two copper layers. One mounting hole differs from rev1.0W, so confirm case and plate fit before using older enclosures. Use the dedicated rev2.0WHS case files where appropriate.
