Design functions and applications
Compact USB-C lithium-battery charger and 5V boost-converter design using BQ24075 and PAM2401 for portable electronics.
Main chips and their roles
| Chip | Role in the design |
|---|---|
| BQ24075 | Lithium-battery charging IC identified in the upstream design. |
| PAM2401 | Boost-converter IC used for the target 5V output. |
Key design functions
- Combines battery charging and voltage boosting in a 24 × 34 mm upstream layout.
- USB-C input and charging/status indicators in the assembled design.
- Upstream documentation describes a 500mA default charging setting; confirm the actual component configuration before selecting a battery.
Typical applications
- Power subsystems for portable microcontroller projects.
- Rechargeable sensor nodes and small electronic prototypes.
- Learning battery charging and DC-DC boost-converter integration.
Application examples require suitable firmware and external hardware. Functions and chips describe the assembled design; the PCB-only option contains no components. Actual PCBA population and any programming or testing requirements should be confirmed for the order.
LiPo Charger & 5V Booster — PCB / PCBA
A compact power-board design based on the open-source LiPo Charger Booster / Compact Power Combo project by DIY GUY Chris (BEEMB). Choose a bare PCB or an assembled board.
| Option | Price per piece | Shipping weight | Contents | Production lead time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PCB Only | USD $2.00 | 50 g | One bare PCB; no electronic components | 2-3 days |
| PCBA | USD $4.50 | 60 g | One populated and soldered board | 5-10 days after payment confirmation |
PCBA is made to order. The production lead time excludes shipping transit time.
About the design
The upstream project combines a BQ24075 lithium-battery charger with a PAM2401 boost converter, USB-C input and status LEDs on a 24 × 34 mm board. It targets a 5V boosted output. These are upstream design details, not an independently verified performance rating for this listing.
What is included?
- PCB Only: one unpopulated printed circuit board; all components are excluded.
- PCBA: one assembled circuit board. Battery, cables and enclosure are not included.
The supplied image is a bare PCB render, not a photograph of an assembled or tested PCBA.
Design notes
The original author reports charger/booster output contention in early versions. Review the upstream design notes and confirm the manufacturing revision and output isolation before production/use. Match the battery type, charging settings and polarity to the design, and verify the output before connecting a load. The markings on the render are not a DIYIPCB test certificate.
