PCB Files & Manufacturing

Export Gerber production files from Fritzing

Check Fritzing PCB routing and footprints, export extended Gerber files, and prepare a fabrication archive for DIYIPCB.

Finish the PCB view

Review the PCB view, not just the breadboard or schematic view. Check unrouted connections, board shape, hole sizes and component footprints. A correctly wired breadboard view does not prove the PCB layout is complete.

A 1:1 paper print can help compare connector spacing and component footprints with the real parts. Disable printer scaling for this check.

Export production files

  1. Choose File → Export → For Production → Extended Gerber in versions with that menu. Older documentation labels the command File → Export → to Gerber.
  2. Save the generated files into a dedicated folder. Include the copper, mask, silk, outline and drilling outputs relevant to the board.
  3. Review the exported artwork in a separate Gerber viewer, especially custom-part pads, text and unusual board shapes.
  4. ZIP the verified fabrication files. Keep the editable .fzz project outside the manufacturing archive unless specifically requested for troubleshooting.

If the output differs from the PCB view

Check the part definition or export warnings, then regenerate. For an older project, preserve a backup before opening it in a newer release. Compare the new export against the intended design. A PNG, PDF or screenshot is useful as a reference but is not a substitute for the manufacturing layers and drill data.

Check the exported files

Open the exported Gerbers and drill data together in a Gerber viewer. Confirm the outline dimensions, copper-layer count, pad-to-hole alignment, cutouts and mask openings. Check top and bottom views before accepting the export. A drill drawing or PDF does not replace machine-readable drill data.

Use one design revision per ZIP. Keep old exports outside the upload folder and identify any special stackup, slots or plating requirements in a fabrication note. See the complete Gerber package checklist.

Upload to DIYIPCB

Open DIYIPCB PCB / PCBA Online Quote, upload the Gerber ZIP and choose the material, specifications and quantity. Verify the displayed dimensions and layer count against your design; the preview is a reference, not engineering approval.

For bare PCBs, the Gerber ZIP must also contain the drill data. For assembly, provide a matching BOM and placement file as well. Use the available cart or inquiry option for your selected service. See BOM and placement-file requirements.
