Export Gerber and N/C drill files from DipTrace
Create a DipTrace fabrication ZIP with all required layers and Excellon drills, and verify origin and hole alignment.
Prepare the PCB Layout document
Save the final PCB, update copper pours and review DRC results. Choose a fresh output folder so older layer exports cannot enter the new archive.
Export the Gerbers
- In PCB Layout, open File → Export → Gerber.
- Select each required copper, solder-mask, silk and outline layer. Check each layer’s settings, including origin/offset and mirroring.
- Use Preview to inspect the output. Under Export All, choose the archive option that includes Gerber and NC Drill if available.
Export drills separately when needed
- If the chosen archive does not include NC data, open File → Export → N/C Drill.
- Use Auto to define tools, then review the resulting drill sizes. Use the same units and origin/offset as the artwork.
- Check plated/non-plated outputs and any layer pairs required by the design. Use Export All to save the needed files.
Do not confuse drill symbols with drilling data
A Gerber drill-symbol drawing is for inspection; it does not replace Excellon NC data. An export described as Gerber-only may omit the latter. Check the ZIP contents even when the artwork preview looks correct.
If holes appear offset by a constant amount, compare the Gerber and drill origins first. If the scale is wrong, check units and coordinate-format interpretation before modifying geometry.
Check the exported files
Open the exported Gerbers and drill data together in a Gerber viewer. Confirm the outline dimensions, copper-layer count, pad-to-hole alignment, cutouts and mask openings. Check top and bottom views before accepting the export. A drill drawing or PDF does not replace machine-readable drill data.
Use one design revision per ZIP. Keep old exports outside the upload folder and identify any special stackup, slots or plating requirements in a fabrication note. See the complete Gerber package checklist.
Upload to DIYIPCB
Open DIYIPCB PCB / PCBA Online Quote, upload the Gerber ZIP and choose the material, specifications and quantity. Verify the displayed dimensions and layer count against your design; the preview is a reference, not engineering approval.
For bare PCBs, the Gerber ZIP must also contain the drill data. For assembly, provide a matching BOM and placement file as well. Use the available cart or inquiry option for your selected service. See BOM and placement-file requirements.
