PCB Files & Manufacturing

Export Gerber and NC drill files from PCB Wizard

Select PCB Wizard manufacturing layers, preserve the drill file and layer report, and prepare a DIYIPCB upload.

Updated Oct 6, 2026 · 2 min read

Open the PCB layout

Use the routed PCB layout rather than a schematic-only document. Check the outline, routing, pad sizes and component orientation before generating production data.

Export the manufacturing set

  1. Choose Export Gerber and review the output settings for the current board.
  2. Select RS-274X / extended Gerber where the edition offers a choice. Include all used copper layers, mask, legend and a clearly identified board profile.
  3. Enable or generate the NC drill / Excellon output and save it with the artwork files.
  4. Keep the generated layer/report file with the package. PCB Wizard exports can use numbered .gb1, .gb2 and similar names; the report explains their meaning.

Check numbered layers before renaming

Never assume .gb1 means top copper or that all numbered layers have the same meaning in every project. Read the report and confirm each layer in a viewer. If needed, add a short README mapping the generated names to copper, mask, legend and outline.

The .drl output contains drilling data; the .inf report describes the export. A report by itself cannot drive drilling. If no production export is available, check your installed edition’s capabilities.

Check the exported files

Open the exported Gerbers and drill data together in a Gerber viewer. Confirm the outline dimensions, copper-layer count, pad-to-hole alignment, cutouts and mask openings. Check top and bottom views before accepting the export. A drill drawing or PDF does not replace machine-readable drill data.

Use one design revision per ZIP. Keep old exports outside the upload folder and identify any special stackup, slots or plating requirements in a fabrication note. See the complete Gerber package checklist.

Upload to DIYIPCB

Open DIYIPCB PCB / PCBA Online Quote, upload the Gerber ZIP and choose the material, specifications and quantity. Verify the displayed dimensions and layer count against your design; the preview is a reference, not engineering approval.

For bare PCBs, the Gerber ZIP must also contain the drill data. For assembly, provide a matching BOM and placement file as well. Use the available cart or inquiry option for your selected service. See BOM and placement-file requirements.
