PCB Files & Manufacturing

Export Gerber and NC drill files from Altium Designer

Export Altium Designer fabrication layers, board profile and NC drills for a complete DIYIPCB order.

Prepare the fabrication output

Activate the final .PcbDoc, repour polygons and review the design-rule report. Identify the layer containing the actual board profile, including internal cutouts. A keepout drawing is not automatically a manufacturing outline.

Generate the Gerber set

  1. Choose File → Fabrication Outputs → Gerber Files. An OutputJob can also generate these outputs with reusable settings.
  2. Choose extended Gerber (RS-274X). Select the copper layers, top/bottom solder mask, required overlay layers and the profile layer. Include paste only when needed for stencil or assembly.
  3. Use an unmirrored 1:1 export. Select suitable coordinate precision for the board and retain the declared units. Check that the outline is not accidentally combined with copper artwork. Generate the files.

Generate the NC drill set

  1. Open File → Fabrication Outputs → NC Drill Files. Choose the same origin as the Gerbers; using the same units simplifies review.
  2. Generate separate plated and non-plated drill data where available. Preserve the units, tool diameters and coordinate-format information.
  3. Collect both output sets from the configured project output directory. If using an OutputJob, check that both Gerber and NC Drill generators are enabled.

Versions 24, 25 and 26

These releases use the fabrication-output workflow above, but the dialog layout can vary. Configure the generator you actually run: direct PCB export and an OutputJob can hold different settings. A successful earlier export does not prove a newly edited job is configured correctly.

Check the exported files

Open the exported Gerbers and drill data together in a Gerber viewer. Confirm the outline dimensions, copper-layer count, pad-to-hole alignment, cutouts and mask openings. Check top and bottom views before accepting the export. A drill drawing or PDF does not replace machine-readable drill data.

Use one design revision per ZIP. Keep old exports outside the upload folder and identify any special stackup, slots or plating requirements in a fabrication note. See the complete Gerber package checklist.

Upload to DIYIPCB

Open DIYIPCB PCB / PCBA Online Quote, upload the Gerber ZIP and choose the material, specifications and quantity. Verify the displayed dimensions and layer count against your design; the preview is a reference, not engineering approval.

For bare PCBs, the Gerber ZIP must also contain the drill data. For assembly, provide a matching BOM and placement file as well. Use the available cart or inquiry option for your selected service. See BOM and placement-file requirements.
