PCB Files & Manufacturing

Export Gerber and drill files from Proteus

Prepare a Proteus PCB manufacturing package using Gerber artwork, Excellon drills and the pre-production check.

Updated Oct 6, 2026 · 2 min read

Use the PCB layout document

Complete the PCB layout in ARES / Proteus PCB Design. An ISIS schematic or simulation file is not a board manufacturing package. Review routing, clearances and the physical board edge.

Generate manufacturing output

  1. Open the manufacturing-output command in the Output menu. Older layouts expose Gerber/Excellon output; newer versions also offer Gerber X2. For a straightforward conventional package, select the RS-274X Gerber/Excellon workflow.
  2. Run the offered pre-production check and resolve errors before continuing.
  3. Select the copper layers in the actual stackup, solder resist, required silk and board-edge data. Include solder paste when required for a stencil.
  4. Enable drill output and review plated/non-plated holes and any drill spans. Use a common origin and an unmirrored manufacturing output. Generate into an empty folder.

Newer output tools and older exports

Proteus 9.2 also offers an Output Job Manager for reusable output profiles. Confirm what the profile generates rather than assuming its name guarantees a complete package. The available output commands depend on the installed release and edition.

If a CAM viewer reports aperture or macro errors, preserve the original files and try a fresh export from the supported software version. Do not delete an aperture definition to make a warning disappear; that can change pad geometry.

Check the exported files

Open the exported Gerbers and drill data together in a Gerber viewer. Confirm the outline dimensions, copper-layer count, pad-to-hole alignment, cutouts and mask openings. Check top and bottom views before accepting the export. A drill drawing or PDF does not replace machine-readable drill data.

Use one design revision per ZIP. Keep old exports outside the upload folder and identify any special stackup, slots or plating requirements in a fabrication note. See the complete Gerber package checklist.

Upload to DIYIPCB

Open DIYIPCB PCB / PCBA Online Quote, upload the Gerber ZIP and choose the material, specifications and quantity. Verify the displayed dimensions and layer count against your design; the preview is a reference, not engineering approval.

For bare PCBs, the Gerber ZIP must also contain the drill data. For assembly, provide a matching BOM and placement file as well. Use the available cart or inquiry option for your selected service. See BOM and placement-file requirements.
