FROM A PURCHASE TO A PROJECT
A simple path back to the community.
You choose an open-source kit.
Participating products are listed in our Open Source Kits collection. Check each product’s source files, maker and license.
We set aside 5%.
Completed eligible orders contribute 5% of their discounted product value, excluding shipping and taxes. Refunds reduce contributions.
Open hardware moves forward.
Project teams apply for support. Approved budgets are reserved, then recorded as delivered only after payment or service delivery.
MADE FOR PEOPLE WHO BUILD AND SHARE
Bring us your next open hardware milestone.
We prioritize practical PCB prototyping and assembly support, particularly for upstream projects represented in our store. Enclosures, mechanical parts and cash support may also be considered.
A strong application includes
- A public source repository and clear hardware and firmware licenses
- A specific build, test or documentation milestone
- An itemized support request and realistic timeline
- A plan to share the resulting design files and progress
Applications are reviewed manually. Submission does not guarantee funding or a response within a fixed time.

Contribute to the Fund

USD · No physical product or shipping. Contributions are credited in full after payment is confirmed; DIYIPCB covers payment processing fees. Refunds reverse the corresponding contribution. CLEAR RULES. TRACEABLE RECORDS.
How the fund works
How is the 5% calculated?
We calculate 5% of the eligible product subtotal after discounts, excluding shipping, taxes and fees, and round to the nearest US cent per order. Manufacturing costs and payment processing fees do not reduce this basis. For a mixed order, only participating kit items count.
When does a purchase count, and what happens with refunds?
Only orders placed after the program starts are eligible. Contributions are recorded when an order is marked completed. Item-level refunds reduce the corresponding contribution. Refunds without an item allocation are conservatively apportioned across the remaining product value; refund adjustments remain visible in the monthly record. Cancelled, failed or fully refunded orders contribute zero. Currency is USD, our checkout currency.
Is this a donation or a separate bank account?
This is a DIYIPCB-funded sponsorship program. The public balance represents budget allocated to sponsorship, not an independently held bank balance and is managed by DIYIPCB. Customers can also make voluntary online contributions through our checkout; confirmed contributions are added in full, with processing fees covered by DIYIPCB. Refunds reduce the fund. Public contributor records are anonymous. No charitable tax receipt is provided. Unused budget carries forward. Available budget equals contributions minus delivered and committed support.
Does 5% go directly to the original designer of my kit?
No. Contributions go into a shared open hardware fund. We prioritize relevant upstream projects, but purchasing a kit does not automatically create a royalty or grant for its author. Our support does not replace license obligations or imply endorsement by the original designer.
How are services and cash support valued?
Cash support is recorded at the amount actually paid. PCB, assembly and other in-kind services use a sponsorship quotation agreed with the project before approval. In-kind support is explicitly labeled and is never described as a cash donation. Approved support is reserved first; only delivered work is counted as Support Delivered.
How are projects selected and reported?
We review license clarity, design readiness, community benefit, the requested milestone and available budget. Project outcomes and approved public details appear in the activity log. Applicant contact information and customer order information are not published. Contact service@diyipcb.com with questions about the program.
