It has an IR emitting LED and an IR-sensitive phototransistor. It can output a digital signal to a microcontroller so that the robot can follow a black line on a white background or vice versa.<\/p>\n<p>Those eye-like sensors on the board are actually IR emitting LED and sensitive phototransistors.
